I'm So Lucky - It Wasn't A Weed Wacker

As Mother's Day draws near, my heart is filled with memories of when my little lovely joined our family. As I write this post I keep  typing, deleting, and then typing and deleting again. It's not easy to share what being a mom is like, in fact I'm not even sure that I want to use this platform to do so. We've all seen it written in cards, in books, on advertisements, but to really capture one's feelings, now that's another story. It's personal.  For me being a mom is the greatest gift. Period!


I'm not one to ask for Mother's Day gifts, because as I said before being a mom is the best gift, but when I saw this necklace I really wanted one. A few years ago my sister in law introduced me to Heart On Wrist . They create personalized jewelry that celebrates the special someone in your life. I immediately fell in love with the simplicity of their designs. I figured since  I was going to receive a gift I should drop some hints of what I really wanted before I ended up with a weed wacker. 


I'm so lucky!, it wasn't a weed wacker. My necklace has three charms on it. One with my lovely's name, one with my wedding date, and one that inspires me to "sonhar"- dream. I wear it almost daily, it looks great with any outfit, and reminds me of my two biggest treasures.

Yummy Mummy Pearls of Wisdom

It's hard to believe that April is almost over. Looking back at my calendar I noticed that it's been slightly over a month that I launched this blog. I hope that you've enjoyed stopping with me. In celebration of my "slightly over 1 month" blog birthday, and of Mother's Day which, dare I say is right around the corner, I Stopped Along The Way is having its first giveaway. SWEET!!!


Several years ago I had the opportunity to meet  Melissa Roiter, mother of triplets, entrepreneur, and owner of Yummy Mummy Brownies. Melissa bakes some of the most decadent delights. As a child, Melissa's mother owned and operated a catering business. Growing up Melissa helped her mother in her catering kitchen and learned cooking and baking techniques. During the summer Melissa would bake with her grandmother Irene, and it was then that she learned that she loved baking. The recipe that Melissa uses to create her Yummy Mummy Brownies was handed down from her grandmother. 


As I began thinking about Mother's Day, and my giveaway I was reminded how moms/grandmothers around the globe pass on a little bit of themselves to their children.
